Save the Koala Month (& Day!) – Friday the 29th of September 2023

Attention all wildlife enthusiasts and conservation advocates! September is just around the corner, and we're gearing up to celebrate Save the Koala Month (and Day!) on Friday, the 29th of September 2023. This special occasion provides the perfect opportunity to raise awareness about endangered Koalas and share their plight with the world.

Why Save the Koala Month Matters: Koalas, one of Australia's most beloved and iconic animals, are facing significant threats in the wild. Their population is declining due to habitat loss, disease, and other human-induced factors. By dedicating an entire month to raising awareness and supporting conservation efforts, we aim to shed light on the challenges these cuddly marsupials face and mobilize people to take action in preserving their natural habitats.

How You Can Contribute: We encourage everyone to get involved and contribute to the cause. Whether you're an individual, a community group, or a business, there are many ways to participate in Save the Koala Month. Share information about Koala conservation on social media, organise events to fundraise for Koala rehabilitation efforts, or simply spread the word about the importance of protecting these precious creatures.

Donate to Support Koala Rehabilitation: We also invite you to make a difference by contributing to the cause. Every little bit helps in treating, rehabilitating, and releasing Koalas back into their natural habitat. You can make a donation through our GoFundMe page: Save Endangered Koalas - GoFundMe. Your generosity will directly support the critical efforts to save these adorable marsupials from the brink of extinction.

Meet Flip Adams – A Young Koala in Need: One of the Koalas currently being cared for at the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital is 9-year-old Flip Adams. He was rescued from Gilston, QLD after being reported ill in the wild. Like many Koalas, Flip was diagnosed with chlamydia, which can have damaging effects on their health, including blindness, infection, and infertility. Treating a single Koala can cost an average of $7000, which includes a 4-6 week course of antibiotics. If you ever come across a sick Koala in the wild, please immediately call Currumbin Wildlife Hospital at +61 7 5534 0813.

Together, We Can Make a Difference: Save the Koala Month presents a unique opportunity for all of us to come together and make a positive impact on the lives of these incredible creatures. Let's stand united in our efforts to preserve their natural habitats, raise awareness about their challenges, and support their rehabilitation and conservation.

Join us on Friday, the 29th of September 2023, for Save the Koala Day, and together, let's ensure a brighter future for the Koalas. For more information and ways to get involved, visit currumbinwildlifehospital.org.au. Together, we can be the change for Koalas!
